Richard Kang, MD

Dr. Kang is a partner, attending anesthesiologist and pain management physician with Advanced Perioperative Medicine, P.A. and its pain management division, Advanced Interventional Pain Management.

Previously, Dr. Kang provided pain management services to the Pain Management Center of New Jersey (Union, NJ) and the Spine & Pain Consultants of New York (Staten Island, NY). He was the associate director of pain management for North Shore-LIJ Staten Island University Hospital.

Dr. Kang graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry and biochemistry from Cornell University (Ithaca, NY), earning a spot on the dean’s list, and went on to receive his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center (Brooklyn, NY). He completed an internal medicine internship at Greenwich Hospital (Greenwich, CT); as well as an anesthesiology residency and fellowship training at St. Luke’s – Roosevelt Hospital (New York, NY).

Licensed in New Jersey and New York, Dr. Kang is board certified in anesthesiology with a sub-specialty in pain management and is a member of the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine and the American Medical Association. He has been published in Anesthesiology twice. In addition to English, Dr. Kang is proficient in Spanish, French and Korean.
